Wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process. With age, our skin gets thinner, drier and we lose elastin. The ability of our skin to protect itself is reduced as we age. Eventually, wrinkles, creases, and lines form on our skin.

Continuous muscle contraction is also another major contributor to facial wrinkles. Continuous muscle movement causes 'dynamic wrinkles' which only appear when the muscle is used.

Over time, if untreated, these wrinkles can become 'static wrinkles' which means they become permanently etched in our skin.

Our Anti-Wrinkle treatment works to reduce those muscle contractions and the associated lines and wrinkles according to each patient’s personal preferences.

They can also be effective as a preventative measure to reduce the formation of new fine lines and wrinkles.

  • The primary ingredient in our anti-wrinkle treatments is a purified protein that temporarily blocks the nerve signals to the muscle, reducing its activity.

This relaxation of the muscle allows the skin above it to smooth out, diminishing the appearance of wrinkles and preventing new ones from forming.

The most common areas treated include the forehead, around the eyes (crow’s feet), and between the eyebrows (frown lines).

  • The Non-Surgical anti-wrinkle treatment involves injecting into the designated facial or neck muscle/s using a fine needle. You may find that the injection stings for a few seconds, but no anaesthetic is required.

The procedure is usually quick, typically requiring only 10 to 15 minutes, plus a pre-treatment consultation process where your registered nurse cosmetic injector will explain the procedure, assess your suitability, and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Depending on your needs, the treatment can be performed on a variety of areas on the face. You may be able to treat multiple areas of the face within one session.

  • Anti-ageing injections are used to treat the face, neck, décolletage and some areas of the body:

    Forehead Lines

    Crow’s Feet

    Frown Lines

    Masseters (jaw muscles)

    Nefertiti Neck lift

Lines on top and sides of the nasal bridge

    Top Lip

    Chin

Nasolabial Folds (from the edges of the nose to the outer corner of the mouth)

Marionette Lines (from the corner of the mouth down to the jaw)

    Migraines

    Gummy Smile

    Excessive Sweating (hyperhidrosis)

  • While complications are extremely rare and we do follow best clinical practices, these procedures are medical and as a result there are potential risks and complications associated with the procedures. These can include:

Allergic reactions: Some individuals may experience an allergic reaction to the filler substance, which can manifest as redness, swelling, itching, or rash at the injection site. Severe allergic reactions are rare.

Infection: Any injection carries a risk of infection. Although it is uncommon, bacterial or viral infections can occur at the injection site, leading to localised swelling, pain, and redness.

Bruising and bleeding: The injection process may cause bruising or bleeding at the treatment site, particularly if blood-thinning medications are being taken. While these side effects are usually temporary, they can take some time to resolve.

Lumps or irregularities: In some cases, dermal fillers may result in the formation of lumps or irregularities under the skin. This can occur if the filler is not injected evenly or if it migrates to an unintended area.

Tissue damage: Rarely, the filler material can damage nearby tissues, such as blood vessels or nerves. This can lead to complications like skin discolouration, scarring, or even tissue necrosis (death of tissue).

Migration or displacement: Dermal fillers have the potential to migrate from the injection site, leading to an uneven distribution of the filler substance.

Granulomas: In some cases, the body may react to the filler material by forming small granulomas, which are inflammatory nodules. These nodules can be visible or palpable and may require additional treatment to resolve.

Anti-Wrinkle Treatment FAQ

  • Anti-wrinkle injections relax wrinkle-causing muscles, creating a smoother appearance.

The injections work by blocking the chemical signal that the brain sends to the muscle, telling the muscle to contract. When the targeted underlying muscles in the desired treatment area are relaxed, they will not frequently contract, which will reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the skin.

  • During your complimentary consultation, your treatment costs will be estimated based on your personalised treatment plan. The primary factor determining the cost of your anti-wrinkle treatment is the amount of product you will require, measured in Units.

Several factors can influence your individual treatment plan and the amount product needed, including:

    • Desired outcome

    • Facial anatomy, gender and size

    • Individual response

Maintenance and follow-up treatments will be necessary as Anti-wrinkle treatments generally provide temporary results. The longevity and individuals preferences will also determine the need for additional treatments.

  • The level of pain experienced varies from person to person. The injections themselves are typically described as a mild pinching sensation.

To minimise any discomfort, you have the option to apply a topical numbing cream to numb your skin.

  • Between3-6 months depending on your treatment goals.

  • You will be given some personalised aftercare tips, according to the specific details of your procedure. It will be important to follow these in order to see the best results and prevent complications from arising.

However GENERAL aftercare tips can include the following:

Do not massage the area that has been injected. This will be done at the time of treatment if needed.

If needed, pain medication can be taken to manage discomfort, but please avoid blood thinning anti-inflammatories.

Bruising and/or swelling may make the site look uneven initially. If there is still asymmetry at two weeks, this can be discussed at your review. If additional treatment is required, extra costs may apply.

Avoid physical activity, alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours following treatment.

Do not expose yourself to extreme heat for two weeks.

If you have been treated with soft tissue augmentation treatments in your lips, avoid very hot or cold beverages for 24 hours.

If your cheeks have been treated, avoid sleeping on your side for a few days.

No laser, IPL, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, facials, or facial waxing for two weeks after treatment.

Results from treatment may take up to 14 days to take full effect.

Do NOT lie down for four hours after treatment. This is to avoid the risk of pressure on the treated areas (from your pillow) and avoid the risk of accidentally rubbing the area.

Be assured that any tiny bumps or marks will go away within a few hours. If you need to apply makeup within four hours after your treatment, only use a GENTLE touch to avoid rubbing the treated area.
